3D Print Lab Course

3D Print Lab: 3D modeling and printing

The 3D Print Lab combines creativity, design and technology to teach students how to create three-dimensional models, prepare files, configure the printer and monitor the materialization of their own projects. It is a concrete way to develop spatial reasoning, planning and authorship.

Presentation

Design and maker culture

The 3D Print Lab shows students the complete 3D creation process. He learns to imagine, model, prepare, print, and review designs on a journey that connects technical thinking and creative expression.

More than seeing the technology working, the student creates, adjusts and takes home objects he produced, making learning concrete and memorable.

Skills

What develops

  • Modeling three-dimensional objects.
  • Configuration and slicing of 3D files.
  • Understanding how 3D printers work.
  • Spatial reasoning and three-dimensional thinking.
  • Creativity, aesthetic sense and prototyping solutions.
Course structure

Three 3D creation modules

Module 1: first 3D models

The student gets to know software, printers, three-dimensional thinking and first objects with playful and structured applications.

Module 2: useful and creative objects

Keychains, supports, organizers, decorations and useful objects that connect design, physics and creativity come into play.

Module 3: mechanical parts and prototypes

The student progresses to parts with more complex and personalized fittings, nuts, screws, movement and prototypes.

What are the classes like?

Concept, creation, preparation and printing

Each class presents theoretical content and a project related to the topic studied. The student creates the model, prepares the file for printing and monitors the production of the physical object.

This format helps to consolidate learning and makes technology no longer abstract: the idea becomes something concrete in the hands of the student.

Each student has close monitoring and a printer designed for their process at that moment, strengthening practice, protagonism and the feeling of seeing an idea come off the screen and take physical form.

Tools

Tools used

Tinkercad 3D

Free and user-friendly online modeling for beginners, students and educators.

Healing

Free slicing software compatible with different 3D printers.

3D Printer

The student follows the transformation of the digital model into a physical object within the course experience itself.

Thought maker

The trail develops the ability to transform an idea into a prototype, combining creativity, design and practical solutions.
